Uspjeh BiH modne dizajnerice Aide Korman u Rimu (2)

  New collection Ad Modum Bosniesem
Roma, 14.07.2004. - On July 13th within the AltaModaAltaRoma fashion week, the Bosnian designer Aida Korman presented at the Tempio di Adriano her new collection Ad Modum Bosniesem.
In the Venetian Republic records from the XIV century a mode of dressing called "alla bosnese" is mentioned. The Bosnian Queen Katarina, who in 1463 moved to Rome, where she stayed until her death in 1478, played the most remarkable leading role in this mode of dressing.
The Katarina time atmosphere was evoked again at the Adrianum Temple through the traditional Bosnian music (sevdalinke), the Bosnian carpets replacing the catwalk and a welcome with typical cakes such as baklava and tulumbe sweetened by sugar syrup.

An atmosphere of creativity and emotions aimed at recalling the mix of cultures, ethnicities and religions, which represent the real richness of Bosnia Herzegovina. Measured by the rhythm of the music from the muezzin prey to the most modern Bosnian rap, the 20 models presented by Aida Korman celebrate the life of the child queen Katarina, the long raven hair "Black Nymph". Beloved by the Bosnian people, the Queen used to walk through the countryside to teach writing to the peasant children where she visited. Nowadays, in the Bosnian area where Katarina lived, a special embroidery technique dedicated to her can still be found. Moreover, some Bosnian women who are in mourning still wear an embroidered headscarf, called Katarinke, showing their wish for the return of the Queen.
The colors are natural from woods, the bright raw cotton or the black sheep fur. The details are focused also on the materials (copper, wood, metals) and on the forms of the ornaments (hats and decorations).
The Aida Korman collection is the result of lengthy and extensive studies on the Bosnian tradition. It comes from long trips throughout the most isolated villages in Bosnia Herzegovina to recover the Kings' town or the old women tattooing.
On the catwalk as testimonial the Bosnian-born thai box European and Italian champion, Sulejman Bajric, paraded with a metal mask and flower decorations moving like a warrior, a tribute to the Roman gladiator.
The idea of multi ethnicity appears also in the selection of the models coming from all over the world: Tunisian, Italian, Bosnian, Chinese, Rumanian, Russian or Senegalese with arch and arrows.
Reviving the story of the Queen Katarina, the collection tells about the story of each woman from Bosnia Herzegovina and, in the mean time, identifies each woman in a queen.
